SNR's story begins in the 1930's. Having immigrated
to Canada from Eastern Europe without a penny to his name,
Henry Steckler spent his first several years in the Montreal
area working as a peddler; traveling from town to town
selling his wares. Like many immigrants of his era, Henry
viewed real estate as the safest place to invest his money.
Pooling his savings with other investors, Henry began
to purchase apartment buildings. His son Arthur played
a substantial role in the business from early on and by
the time he reached his late twenties, Arthur had transformed
SNR into a full-fledged developer - building and developing
single-family residential, multi-family residential, industrial
and commercial properties.
SNR is led today by Arthur Steckler and Monty
Steckler. A graduate of McGill University's Faculty
of Law in Montreal, Arthur used his savings to purchase
his first property at the age of thirteen and has over
fifty years of development experience in the U.S. and
Canada. Arthur's expertise extends across the spectrum
of the real estate industry. Over the years, he has
developed over 10,000 residential units. In addition,
Arthur's projects have included the following - built
condominiums, purchased and rehabilitated apartment
buildings and then converted to condominiums, built
office parks and purchased and rehabilitated strip shopping
centers.
A graduate of Fordham University School of Law in New
York City, Monty Steckler joined the SNR team in 2007.
Monty previously spent several years as an associate
in the corporate finance and real estate finance departments
of international law firms Clifford Chance US LLP and
Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where he represented a wide
range of clients, including the seller in the $550 million
sale of one of the premier office buildings in New York
City; the buyer in a $1.5 billion purchase of a luxury
ski development in Snowmass, CO, and the lender in a
$3.7 billion loan to the purchaser of a world class
luxury hotel chain.
In addition, a diverse and highly motivated team of
architects, engineers and land-use planners, as well
as legal, financial and marketing professionals, has
helped shape SNR into a first-class real estate operation.
